Oran Gant

Deputy Warden Oran Gant and Warden Alfred Perkins were killed in an automobile crash near Somerville, New Jersey, while returning from the Hackettstown Fish Hatchery.

Their department pickup truck was struck by a dump truck on Highway 29 (modern-day Route 22) east of N Bridge Street, and both men were fatally injured.

Deputy Warden Gant had only served with the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife for approximately three months. He was survived by his wife and two sons.

Deputy Warden Grant,
On today, the 75th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you to you and your Partner who was also killed in that crash for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of New Jersey. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
