K9 Sam succumbed to heat stroke after suffering a medical emergency while training.
Temperatures were registering over 100 degrees in the shade. As soon as K9 Sam exhibited signs of stress, he was rushed to the vet.
K9 Sam had served with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department for about six months.
