Dear Sheriff Jay Koon:

We were deeply saddened to hear about the loss of K9 Sam, your loyal and brave canine. I can only imagine how difficult this time must be for you, K9 Sam’s handler, and your fellow officers in the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of K-9 Sam.

It is evident that Police K9 Sam was not just a highly trained member of your team but also a beloved companion and a true asset to the community. The dedication and commitment of both the K-9 and their handler are evident in the invaluable services they provide, from tracking down suspects to detecting dangerous substances.

The bond between a Police K-9 and their handler is unparalleled, built on trust, loyalty, and mutual respect. Losing a K-9 partner is like losing a member of the family, and I can only imagine the sense of loss and grief the handler must be experiencing. Please know that K9 Sam’s handler, and your fellow officers are in our thoughts during this challenging time.

Police K9 Sam has left a lasting impact on the community through exceptional service and unwavering dedication. Bravery in the face of danger and commitment to ensuring public safety are commendable and greatly appreciated.

As you and your colleagues mourn the loss of Police K-9 Sam, please remember that you are not alone. The community stands with you, grateful for the sacrifices you make daily to protect and serve.

Having served as a Law Enforcement Professional for 46+ years, and as a law enforcement family, if there is anything we can do to offer support or assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.

May the memories of Police K-9 Sam, and the legacy left behind bring comfort and strength during this tough time. K-9 Sam’s service will always be remembered, and the impact K-9 Sam had on the community will resonate for years to come.

With deepest sympathy,

Chief (retired) Don P. Jensen Sr. DrE, PGP, PP, PM

Father God, You are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Our Comrade-In-Blue, Law Enforcement K9 Sam, of the Lexington County SC Sheriff's Department, was suddenly and violently taken from us; a Victim of Heatstroke in the Line-of-Duty. Come swiftly to his aid, have mercy on him, and comfort his family, friends, and comrades by the power and protection of the Cross. I ask this through the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by His Authority, I pray. Amen.

"Thank you for your public service to and for humanity!"

Dear K9 Sam, God took you back almost as fast as He gave you to us to serve as a hero. One day we will know why. In this time of confused shock, may He bless your partner, family and department with peace and comfort. In the skies above, there is a sparkling, winking star letting your partner know all is well.
