Chief Mull was accidentally shot and killed while assisting in the search of a rape suspect near the Georgia - Tennessee border. The suspect was located in a deep gully and taken into custody. As one of the officers climbed out of the gully his weapon fell to the ground and discharged. The round struck Chief Mull, causing a fatal wound.
