Detective Joseph Moretti was shot and killed after responding to a silent alarm call at a nightclub at 297 Lee Burbank Highway.
He was shot in the neck with a shotgun as he entered the club. He was transported to a local hospital where he remained in a coma for 7 months before succumbing to the wound.
The three suspects were never apprehended.
Detective Moretti was a United States Marine Corps WWII veteran and had served with the Revere Police Department for 13 years. He was survived by his wife and three children.
