Paul N. Mitchell

Officer Paul Mitchell died of injuries sustained in an automobile crash while responding to a call at 2:20 a.m.

Officer Mitchell was en route to back up another officer in a traffic stop when he swerved to avoid a vehicle stalled on Ritchie Highway and Americana Circle in Glen Burnie. His patrol vehicle slid on the ice, and he crashed into a pole. Officer Mitchell was transported to University Hospital where he succumbed to his internal injuries.

Officer Mitchell was a United States Navy veteran and had served with the Anne Arundel County Police Department for three years. He was survived by his wife.

On today, the 48th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served as a U.S. Navy Corpsman. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
