Deputy Sheriff Frank McKenzie died as a result of a blood clot forming during a foot pursuit.
Deputy McKenzie was on foot patrol when he attempted to stop a car in a parking lot in Philadelphia, Tennessee, being driven by a teenager. While attempting to stop the car a blood clot formed in Deputy McKenzie's foot and lodged in his pulmonary artery. The driver of the vehicle was questioned but never charged in connection with Deputy McKenzie's death.
Deputy McKenzie had served with the Loudon County Sheriff's Office for 26 years. He was survived by his mother, twin brother, and sister.
