Sergeant Matthew McCormick was struck and killed by a vehicle while directing traffic outside of the Staten Island Ferry Terminal during a wartime blackout period.
Sergeant McCormick was assigned to the 120th Precinct. He was survived by his wife and five children. Five generations of Sergeant McCormick's family have served with the New York Police Department.
