Eugene Lovely was married to the cousin of my grandfather. She never went on to have children but we were blessed to have called her “Granny Alice.” We never once questioned the importance of the relationship. It was only later in my teens that I fully even understood the relationship. I feel connected to Eugene and often wonder what we would’ve called him. It sounds like he was a great man.
