Trooper Brooks Lawson was struck and killed by a train at an unprotected crossing while in pursuit of a fleeing vehicle in a rural area in Wilcox County. During the pursuit, his view of the train crossing was impeded and he was struck.
He is survived by his wife, his three young sons, and his infant daughter.
