View all 46 ReflectionsHere it is February 2025. For some reason, at 72 years old I recalled my friend Officer George Kempen. I lived in Uniondale and was on my honeymoon. When I returned home the first newspaper I saw was Georges picture on the front page. George was in the 1st at the time. He, Rich Kortea, and Benson Huggard were a couple of the men I admired and the reason I went on to NC and became an officer in the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office. Retired 2017. George was a good man, and a fine example for a younger guy to look up to. RIP George.
