Officer William Jordan was killed when his patrol car was struck by a vehicle that ran a red light.
Officer Jordan was a passenger in the vehicle and was thrown from the car. He suffered severe head injuries and died about eight hours later.
The driver was charged with manslaughter but was acquitted.
Officer Jordan had served with the Wilmington Police Department for four years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
