Federal Prohibition Agent Richard Jackson was shot and killed by moonshiners in Taylor County, Georgia.
Agent Jackson and two other agents had arrested the suspects for the illegal moonshine operation.
While attempting to take the suspects to jail two suspects approached the officers and demanded the moonshiners be released.
When the agents refused, gun battle ensued. Agent Jackson was shot in the exchange of gunfire and transported to Reynolds,
Georgia, where he died of his injuries. One of the suspects was killed by the other agents.
