Dennis John Ives

Patrolman Dennis Ives was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver at 6:00 a.m.

He was en route to assist with a parade assignment, traveling on Interstate 25. When he failed to appear for his assignment, other officers began to search for him. Patrolman Ives and his police motorcycle were found off of I-25 south of Unitah Street, hidden from view.

Patrolman Ives was a United States Air Force Vietnam War veteran and served with the Colorado Springs Police Department for six years. He was survived by his wife, three sons, parents, and a brother.

On today the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
