The evening Ramon Died we were serving a search warrant for narcotics, when a person in an unknown vehicle pulled in front of the house we were searching and honked his horn excessively. After a few minuets the car went away, about ten minuets later the car returned and again started honking its horn excessively. I asked if anyone in the search warrant crew wanted to go out with me and check out this person and vehicle, Ramon jumped up and said lets go. You would have had to have known Ramon he was aggressive and fearless. As we walked out the narrow walk way we saw the car parked right in front of the walkway next to the curb. As we got to the car Ramon took the lead and looked down into the car thru the passenger window, and said "police" that is when the driver opened fire, Ramon went down, I emptied my revolver into the passenger window, and the driver drove off. He was stopped bleeding from the face and hand and a Smith and Wesson 32 long revolver was recovered in the car. I will remember Ramon until the day I die. As I described him, to his son in one word and that word was FEARLESS. See you soon my friend. Retired OPD Sergeant Ignatius H Chinn.
