Frederick D. Hunter, Jr.

Police Officer Frederick Hunter was shot and killed while investigating a possible weapons violation in front of 1518 Pallister Avenue.

He and his partner were in plainclothes when they observed a man pass a handgun to a woman. As they approached the group a second woman fled on foot between two houses with Officer Hunter in pursuit. As Officer Hunter chased her between the buildings he was shot in the chest.

The suspect was arrested but acquitted of murder.

Officer Hunter had been with the agency for 11 months and was assigned to the STRESS Unit. He was survived by his wife, three children, and mother.
