Charles Humphrey

Officer Charles Humphrey succumbed to injuries received three days earlier when he was knocked over by a heifer that had gotten loose from a slaughterhouse at about 2:30 p.m.

Officer Humphrey was attempting to get citizens out of the way of the heifer on Market Street near the Pennsylvania Railroad Station when he was hit. He suffered a skull fracture from hitting the ground.

Officer Humphrey was a U.S Army veteran and had served with the Harrisburg Police Bureau for 12 years. He was survived by his wife and daughter.
