Dear Officer John Henry Hill,

I want to take a moment to honor your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering strength as a Black officer in Altus in 1934. At a time when the badge did not always offer protection equally, you stood firm in your duty, facing challenges with bravery and resilience. Your service was not just a job—it was a testament to your character, a symbol of hope, and a step toward justice for those who would come after you.

I thank you for your courage, for the battles you fought both seen and unseen, and for the legacy of perseverance you left behind. Your example teaches me that true bravery is standing for what is right, even in the face of adversity.

I pray that I may model your strength, your determination, and your heart for service. May I walk with the same courage you did, making a difference where I stand. May your legacy live on, inspiring those of us who follow in your footsteps to be fearless in the pursuit of justice and unwavering in the face of struggle.

Rest in honor, Officer Hill. Your sacrifice and dedication will never be forgotten.

With gratitude and respect,
Hopeful soon to be LEO
