When they started to walk towards him, he turned and fired a .22 caliber handgun at them, striking Detective Heinrich in the head. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remained in a coma until his death. The suspect was sentenced to life in prison.

View all 14 ReflectionsChuck was one of my father's field training officers. He never fully got over Chuck's passing and always made it a point to keep up with Chuck's widow & son.
Seven years after his passing, my father followed in his footsteps and was named Detective of the Year.
God Bless Chuck and the entire Heinrich family!
