Robin Ann Arnold

Detective Robin Arnold was killed in a vehicle crash on Quarterline Road near Deer Run Road in Mason County while returning from training with the regional narcotics task force.

She was traveling northbound on Quaterline Road when her undercover vehicle crossed the center line as the result of icy conditions on the roadway. Her vehicle was then struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Detective Arnold had served with the Manistee County Sheriff's Department for nine years and was assigned to the State Scherriff Chief Enforcement Narcotics Team (SSCENT) a month before she died. She is survived by her husband and two step-sons.

Another year has passed. I was so happy to see that Sheriff Brian Gutowski shared your photo and memory on the county Facebook page.

I was teaching today at the college and spent a few moments looking at your photo. I told my 6th academy class all about you. Your small stature, your sense of humor, and how you were like a mother hen to me when we were partners in the early 90s. I stop by your photo often and relive your memory from all those years ago.

Today, I took the back road to work because I was thinking about you on the anniversary date when I lost one of my favorite partners of all time. I think of you often when I travel on Quarterline Road. I stopped for just a few moments near the accident site today. Even though it has been so long, I still remember the day like it was yesterday. I will never forget the day I received the message that we lost you.

You made your mark in my life and in the lives of so many you served. I was happy to call you my partner.

Still missing that smile and that spunk 31 years later.
