Sergeant Harrelson was killed in an automobile accident while on patrol near the intersection of Howell Street and Houston Street (Present day John Wesley Dobbs Avenue) in Atlanta.
Sergeant Harrelson had served with the Georgia State Patrol for nine years. He was survived by his wife.

Harrelson in 1954, well after his tragic accident. The oldest two were twin brothers and we were classmates in elementary and high school. The family of Sgt. Major. Harrelson were rightfully proud of the position and dedication of this honorable man.
