View all 8 ReflectionsI of course far to young to have known Marshal Eyser. Suspect John Swan was convicted and later escaped the Morgan County Jail, this in 1917, never to be found. Then around about 2015 here comes a young man, the Grandson of John George Markley who had passed away of old age on 10 Sept 1974, in Glen, New Hampshire.
The miracle of DNA and modern Genealogical research had created more than one question as to who John Markley really was. Following his escape Swan adopted his Mothers Maiden name, then joined the US Navy, He lived a long, law abiding life, of service to his country, his family, his community of Boston, then his retirement to a large acreage in New Hampshire. He was well liked and loved by an extended family. No doubt he caused the death of Marshal Eyser, and Marie Wymer on that terrible Sat. night. I not know what to say beyond this. "Angels and Demons live inside each of us, and sometimes the Demon wins."
