In 1993, I was 5 years old and living in the house directly next to the house within the line of fire. (There are still bullet fragments that exist in the side of my old house) Playing outside in the side yard with my neighborhood friend who just so happened to be at my house instead of his, which was directly across from the shooter. My brother had to run and grab us and get us inside where it was safe. We were the house he stopped at prior to my mom warning him not to go around the corner. Moments later the 14 year old opened fire and killed Gary. These images never leave my mind. I am haunted by his death daily. We were the house that the swat team sat on top of to take out the shooter. Its been over 30 years and I still think of Gary. Of his family, of the future he would have had. My heart goes out to your loved ones. RIP.
