I think about Herbert all the time. He was a great rookie and after he finished his work in the APD jail and 909 beat, LT. Trout & Sgt. Hammock (another fallen) told me he was going to be my jr. partner on 01 beat. We didn't have FTOs in those days. I remember that day like no other. I can still remember his laugh and the difference he wanted to make. We, who were at roll call that day and knew him will forever carry on his legacy and remind those who we teach of his commitment.
