Quartermaster Sergeant Ellsworth Dryden succumbed to injuries received in a motorcycle crash on March 4th, 1933
He was escorting the Maryland's Governor Albert Ritchie home from the President Franklin D. Roosevelt's inauguration when his motorcycle collided with a bread tuck at the intersection of Rhode Island Avenue and 34th Street in Mount Rainier, Maryland. He was seriously injured in the crash and died after contracting a bloodstream infection.
Sergeant Dryden had served with the Maryland State Police for just under 10 years.
