Detective Francis Creamer suffered a fatal heart attack after being struck by objects that had been thrown at officers during an anti-busing riot on September 16th, 1974.
He had been assigned to an area near the South Boston District Courthouse. He was taken to Boston City Hospital where he remained until passing away on October 7th, 1974.
Detective Creamer was a U.S. Navy veteran. He had served with the Boston Police Department for 21 years and was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. He was survived by his wife, daughter, sister, and brother.
