Town Marshal Stephen Miller was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a subject during a domestic disturbance.
After a fight at his home, the subject went to his sister-in-law's home to find his wife and fired shots into the house. When Marshal Miller arrived, the subject shot him twice, once in the ankle and the chest. The subject fled and was injured when the posse captured him.
The suspect committed suicide before his trial verdict. The jury's verdict was not guilty by reason of insanity.
Marshall Miller was survived by his wife and six children.
Port Fulton was annexed by Jeffersonville in 1926.
