Park Ranger Raymond Johnson died from injuries sustained five days earlier when his vehicle struck a tree on Bear Lake Road.
Ranger Johnson was on patrol and en route to Sprague's Lodge for a hunting enforcement operation when his tire blew out. His vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. He was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Ranger Johnson had served with the United States Department of the Interior - National Park Service for four months. He was survived by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
