Trooper Stanley Bunner was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Thruway (current-day I-90) near Albany.

His patrol car skidded over an embankment and rolled over, ejecting him.

Trooper Bunner was a United States Navy veteran and had served with the New York State Police for seven years. He was survived by his wife and five children.

On today, the 60th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
