Richard Bianchi

Corrections Officer Richard Bianchi was killed in a vehicle crash on Highway 44 four miles east of Old Station Road near Redding.

He was en route from the High Desert State Prison to Redding Hospital to perform guard duty for an inmate at the hospital. His department vehicle left the roadway and overturned, causing him to suffer fatal injuries.

Officer Bianchi was a United States Air Force veteran and had served with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for 10 years. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, parents, brother, and grandson.

On today, the 5th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Air Force. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
