I met your mother today! What a wonderful woman she is.
I think all police mothers are, just to be able to send their sons and daughters off to such a thankless job as this everyday. The conversation brought back some memories of my career years ago. I made a promise to my mother if a police shooting occurred while I was on duty I would call her as soon as I could so she would know I was ok. Before cellphones, I had to find a pay phone or an open business to call. Sometimes that could take awhile. Talking to your mother, I could just imagine my mothers anxiety waiting for that phone call.
Although I never met or worked with you, I appreciated your mothers description of you. Certainly brought another perspective to a line of duty death. By the way, all 3 of us served in the USAF.
