Constable Taylor Jenkins was shot and killed by his own brother-in-law in Reliance, Tennessee.
Constable Taylor had arrested and disarmed his brother-in-law's brother for being drunk in public. After the brother bonded out of jail he became engaged in an argument with Constable Jenkins' father. The brother-in-law then confronted Constable Taylor's father as well while armed with a shotgun. Constable Taylor heard his father calling out and attempted to break up the argument by stepping between the two, but his brother-in-law opened fire and killed him.
The 30-year-old suspect was apprehended in Benton two months later.
Constable Taylor was survived by his wife and several children.
