All too soon we forget January 25, 2018. That was the day Officer Glenn Doss was taken from us.

Officers from the 7th Precinct piled into patrol cars, 3, 4 deep...jammed into the back seats with door locks preventing them from escaping the gunfire that ensued as they pulled up to the scene.

That scene was held for 4 hours and change. The temperatures were in the low teens, so cold that a light fog enshrouded the ground.

Detroit SRT (Special Response) showed up, after the girlfriend and children were evacuated then SRT jammed round after round of tear gas through every conceivable avenue from the east facing windows. Yes, he gave up...I shall not comment on how I felt, I am sure most can empathize.

7 years later, that building still stands and the windows still shattered, a testiment to time and that old "Broken Window Theory" taught to us in police academies across this great nation.

To those officers who took on that gunfire, you will not be forgotten...to Officer Glenn Doss, your name is a whisper at times when we need to reflect on this career and the sacrifices.

Godspeed Glenn
