Police Officer Kenton Britt died of injuries he sustained when he was struck by a vehicle at the scene of a three-car collision on the Grand Central Parkway at the junction with the Van Wyck Expressway.

Five other officers were injured. Officer Britt was taken to Booth Memorial Hospital but died two hours later from his injuries.

Officer Britt had served with the New York City Police Department for four years and was assigned to Highway Unit 3. He was survived by his mother and three sisters.

Once again, I'm honored to give both a reflection, and to give remembrance to Police Officer Kenton Britt. Kenton was simply a kind, warm hearted and caring human being who gave "110" percent of himself to performing his job to the highest standards of the New York City Police Department. Because of Kenton's devotion to the People of New York City, New York State he will never be forgotten.
