Toliver Clayton Hearn

Deputy Sheriff Toliver Hearn was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a man who was assaulting a woman at 10:45 p.m.

The 34-year-old subject was arrested, convicted of Deputy Hearn's murder, and subsequently sentenced to death. His sentence was later commuted to life. He was paroled on July 24, 1933.

Deputy Hearn was a United States Army WWI veteran.

On today, the 100th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during World War I.
