Special Agent Henning Musselwhite was killed when a Southern Railroad non-stop passenger train struck the rear of a work train near Dame's Ferry, Georgia.
Agent Musselwhite was in the caboose of the work train which was at the scene of an earlier derailment involving the Southern Railroad's Royal Palm passenger train. The non-stop train came around a sharp curve in the tracks and collided with work train, killing Agent Musselwhite and injuring several other workers.
Agent Musselwhite had served with the Southern Railroad Police for at least five years. He was survived by his wife and eight children.
