Acting Chief of Police Michael Entinger was shot and killed by a man he and other officers attempted to arrest at a brothel in Wireton on the outskirts of Monessen. The officers had a warrant for the suspect charging him with forcing his 16-year-old daughter to work as a prostitute.
The suspect was apprehended two days later by a state constable in Scottdale. He claimed his pistol accidentally discharged when Acting Chief Entinger attempted to take it from him. On May 22nd, 1913, he was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 13 to 20 years in prison.
Acting Chief Entinger was survived by his wife and three children.
