Deputy Sheriff Jeremy Triche and Deputy Sheriff Brandon Nielsen were shot and killed in LaPlace, Louisiana, by members of a domestic terrorist group known as the Sovereign Citizens. They were shot while investigating an earlier ambush shooting that wounded a sheriff's office investigator.
The investigator was working an off-duty security detail at a remote employee parking lot used by a construction company at about 5:00 a.m. when he was ambushed as he sat in his department vehicle.
Responding units located a car they believed had been involved in the early shooting in a nearby trailer park. As Deputy Nielsen, Deputy Triche, and a third deputy questioned two men outside of a mobile home, a third man suddenly exited the home and opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle, striking all three deputies. Deputy Nielsen and Deputy Triche both died as a result of their wounds.
Seven subjects were arrested and held in connection with both separate shooting incidents. The shooter was sentenced to death on Feb. 9, 2020.
Deputy Triche had served with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office for four years. He is survived by his wife and 2-year-old son.

The person who took you and your partner's life was and still is a coward, but thankfully, he was sentenced to death, meaning that there has been some justice for your case including you and your partner's deaths. However, that man's time will come, as karma takes it's time to catch up to those who hurt others including those of the law, as judgement day will be brought upon him for his actions. I personally believe you were doing the right thing by enforcing the law and serving your community like so, not knowing that some foolish individual would soon rip your life away, all because of the fact that his nonsensical beliefs got the best of him, causing him to do such vile actions. According to what i learned and read upon, you were a good man who not only did his job the way he did, but cared for his family as well, meaning that you recently became a father, thus having a 2 year old son at the time of your passing. But rest assured, your son will grow up to see that his father was a hero, and a good man all in one once he learns about your legacy. Also, i'm sure the citizens of louisiana and the people of your city appreciated your service when you were alive, as there is a chance that some people may have encountered you and had the opportunity to speak with you, meaning that they saw you the way you were, and how you handled your career as an officer and how you did it the right way. But as of now and today, may you rest in peace knowing your service along with your partner's is highly appreciated, and that your killer will recieve justice once he meets his fate, and that you were a good man who served your community the way you knew how. Rest Easy Mr. Triche
