Gerald Boos

Chief Boos was shot and killed after responding to a party in a field. When he and the other officer arrived they heard either gun shots or firecrackers and then told all of the teenagers to get into their cars. Two of the teenagers ran into the woods and Chief Boos followed. When he told the boys again to return to their cars he was shot. He was able to return fire and wound one of the suspects, who was apprehended and convicted. The man was released from prison in 2000.
Chief Boos worked only part time as Chief of Police for only $100 per month and was survived by his wife and two children.

September 20, 2025 - Today I did volunteer cemetery clean up work in Anoka, MN and saw Chief Boos’ grave site. I have heard of him dying in the line of duty at various local LE memorial events over the years. I did not realize how young he was. Thank you for your sacrifice Chief Boos and I hope your posterity is somehow blessed for it.
