Village Marshal Charles Rose was stabbed to death by a man as he attempted to arrest the man's brother.
As Marshal Rose collapsed he shot and wounded the suspect who was apprehended and incarcerated in the Calhoun County Jail.
The 22-year-old suspect was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison on July 20, 1912. He was paroled in 1935. Soon after being paroled he was arrested for passing counterfeit money in Calhoun County.
