View all 169 ReflectionsI just found this memorial page for Dave, and I can’t believe it’s been 18 years. I didn’t know this existed until now, but maybe it’s not a coincidence. He’s been on my mind a lot lately. A song from my favorite band just came out Th with a new song, and it hit me hard. It instantly took me back to all of our fun, exciting, and simple times at Kutztown; hanging out, laughing, and just being young. I thought of all the shifts we worked together at Mama’s, how easy it was to be around him, and how much joy he brought into those everyday moments.
Dave was such a steady presence in my life when I needed it most. After my dad died, I was completely lost. So many people didn’t know what to say or do, but Dave didn’t hesitate. He just showed up. He held my hand through it all, and I never had to pretend to be okay when I was with him. That kind of quiet, unwavering support is rare. He gave it freely, and I’ll always be grateful.
He cared deeply about his friends and family, you could feel it in how he treated everyone. Becoming a Border Patrol agent made perfect sense for someone like Dave. He had this deep sense of duty and loyalty and wanted to be like James Bond, I can't tell you the number of reference calls I took for him!
I wish I had found this page sooner. I wish I had told more people how much he meant to me, and how much his friendship helped shape me during such a difficult time.
Eighteen years later, I still miss him. I still carry him with me. He’ll always be remembered with love.
