View all 11 ReflectionsChief Henry Grady Sammons was my grandfather. I never had the honor of knowing him, other than through the tremendous love and respect his son, my father, had for him. The comments of respect from total strangers is totally amazing to me. Yes, he is our family's hero. As for his service in WW1, he was MIA for several months recovering in a hospital in France from wounds sustained in battle in the Ardennes Forest.
