The postit note. The unapologetic reminder of things that are yet to be done. Notes reminding me to schedule appointments for cars to be taken for tinting, that Gary is off on Friday and that there is a job fair at FSU on October 22nd. Notes telling me that there are 893 registered sex offenders in the county and notes to remind me to get my daughter some sock tape before hockey practice. Notes and signs everywhere but I need no reminder about what today is.

Twenty years.

While we pause to remember and contemplate the why's and the reasons, the loss and the triumphs we find solace in the peace that eventually settles on us all. Today the men and women of the Sheriff's Office collectively embrace the joy of remembering the person you are. Today we honor you as we do everyday by putting on the badge and going forth to make the community safer.
