Nels Daniel "Dan" Niemi

Police Officer Dan Niemi was shot and killed in an ambush attack while investigating a disturbance call on Doolittle Drive.

The suspect fled the scene on foot and was apprehended the next day. He was convicted in May 2007 of first-degree murder for Officer Niemi's murder and subsequently sentenced to death.

Today marks the 20 year anniversary of your murder. Your wife and daughter still miss you. Your friends and colleagues still miss you. I still miss you.

Although your killer remains in prison, he remains unpunished for the huge hole that he caused in this world. From you current perspective, you may have forgiven him; I never will and I pray that his eternity is where true justice and true punishment occur.

Until we meet again,

I love you, my brother!
