Jay R. Van Dusen

Patrolman Jay Van Dusen suffered a fatal heart attack while responding to an emergency call involving a woman walking in the roadway in extremely cold weather conditions.

Following the heart attack, his patrol car struck a snowbank. He was located by other officers and transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later.

Patrolman Van Dusen was a United States Army Air Force WWII veteran who served with the Amherst Police Department for 18 years. He was survived by his wife and four children.

On today, the 53rd anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for you Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
