Trooper Kurt Knapp was killed in a vehicle crash on I-10 near Comfort, Texas.
He was driving eastbound on the interstate when his patrol car crossed the median and collided with a vehicle in the westbound lanes.
Trooper Knapp had served with the Texas Highway Patrol for five years. He is survived by his wife and two children.
