Edward M. Belcher

Officer Edward Belcher was shot and killed by a sniper who was positioned 200 yards away.

The officer had been investigating a shooting along with 24 other officers at a nightclub at 3140 South Riverside Drive when he was shot. Another officer was wounded.

The suspect was arrested and convicted of the murder. He served ten years of his life sentence before being released on parole.

Office Belcher had been with the Fort Worth Police Department for three years. He was survived by his wife, parents, and two sisters.

OFFICER BELCHER SUCH A FINE GENTELMAN. WE DATED IN THE EARLY 60'S. I CHOOSE ANOTHER MAN I WAS DATING AT THE SAME TIME TO MARRY. WISH I HAD MADE ANOTHER CHOICE.
