Captain Fling was killed in an automobile accident while pursuing two burglary suspects. He swerved his patrol car to avoid striking another vehicle and instead struck a soft shoulder. His vehicle flipped over three times and he was ejected from the car.
Captain Fling had been with the agency for 11 years and was survived by his wife and six children.
