Investigator Herman Scott was killed in an automobile accident on FM 31 while responding to a gang-related call.
During the response, his vehicle hit a deer and crashed head-on into an oncoming car. His vehicle then burst into flames.
Investigator Scott had been employed with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department for eight years, and is survived by his wife and two children.
