A person at the residence reported that his elderly neighbor had appeared at their home with a shotgun, claiming that they were in the mafia. Deputy Risley arrived on the scene and had requested backup before he was shot and killed by the suspect.
Deputy Risley's backup arrived and asked the suspect where Deputy Risley was. The suspect pointed in the direction where Deputy Risley's body lay, then pointed his shotgun at the second deputy. The deputy shot and killed the suspect.

I was honored to know you longer than most people. I was there the day you come home from the hospital. You had kind of a rough start in life, which was my first indication of how tough you would become!! You were my best friend and someone I could always count on. You loved the work you did and cared about the public. My life would have been so different were you not a part of it. You and I shared dreams and plans for the future which were cut short in the prime of your life. I miss you everyday!! When I have rough days in life, I feel your spirit there with me.
